*Live stream registration option also available (includes access to recording for one week after live stream). Participants are able to repeat each class later, or do on own schedule. Live stream registrants have email access to instructor to ask questions specific to their yoga practice needs.  Only the instructor is visible on the live stream video. Students are not visible.

Yoga for BeginnersClass Details

A yoga FUNdamentals class series appropriate for:

  • Absolute beginners to yoga
  • Those who would like to revisit the foundations of Yoga
  • Participants who prefer a slower paced yoga class with accessible movements suitable for all bodies and ages

This class series provides an introduction to yoga basics. Movements are covered in easy to understand detail and with demonstrations. Each class provides the skill and knowledge needed to get started with confidence. Students may use this class as a first step toward eventually enrolling in more challenging yoga classes with safety and confidence. Those who enjoy the pace and depth of poses in this class may choose to make this their long term home.

Focus is on learning the basics of a Hatha yoga practice. First we study the key actions, principles and alignment of core postures separately, with the goal of eventually moving on to a more flowing sequence. Correct breathing techniques, basic yoga philosophy, pose names, and relaxation skills will be covered in each class. Each week specific poses, and teaching points, will be demonstrated and broken down.  There is opportunity to ask questions and get personal guidance. Variations are provided to suit all bodies.

This is a class to develop strength, flexibility and calm for every body-type, age and experience level. Absolutely no yoga experience is necessary to reap the full benefit of this class. Participants must be able to easily move from sitting on a mat to standing (and vice versa) and be able to support their upper body with their hands (like when on hands and knees). Everyone participates in a way that best suits their own body and experience level. Stretch, strengthen, breathe deeply and finish class with a short relaxation that will have you ready for the most restful sleep ever.

Whether you are an absolute beginner, already a yogi but need a refresher, or have always wondered, “Am I doing this right”, this is the class for you!
